A wonderful journey through an unknown past of Spain in New York. A journey that every lover of that great city should take, and one we can enjoy in this beautiful documentary.

Francisco José R. J. (2026). Madrid, España.

It’s a very moving film and I liked it very much. The DVD arrived by certified mail, no hassle. It’s very good that the shippment from the USA is so affordable in Spain.

Laura M. D. (2026). Sevilla, Spain.

Significantly, the film finishes with an extract from a speech by Federico García Lorca on the importance of theatre for building a national culture (…) The viewers have, however, seen a variety of performances, from flamenco dancers and musicians, to the way the interviewees have performed their respective identities. Film, like theatre, also fulfils the function of performing and therefore imagining national identities.

David Miranda-Barreiro (2020). ‘Little Spain’ or ‘Little Galicia’? Cinematic Representations of Galician Migration to New York and New Jersey. Journal of Romance Studies, Bangor University, United Kingdom.

The best present I have had this Christmas.

José María Carrascal (2015). New York.
